MISSIONS
First Baptist Church has had a heart for missions for a very long time! We have always been large givers to missions and have more recently been goers. In the past, we have taken trips to West Africa, Moldova, Mexico and other disadvantaged areas throughout Texas. We believe that the Great Commission is our mission: to make new disciples of all the nations and to help make mature disciples of all the nations. (Matthew 28:16-20)
AFRICA
In 2010, we adopted an unreached group of people in Guinea, West Africa. We send several small teams each year to evangelize and disciple this group. We are seeking to see a church established among our unreached people group. Primarily our work is to mobilize and equip local believers to go reach their own people in their own language.
BORDER MISSIONS
Starting in 2023, we are sending teams to Hidalgo, Texas to do Border Missions with like-minded gospel ministries. We are excited about connecting more of our people to missions without the hurdle of 2 continents and high cost. LOCAL MISSIONS
HFBC members are charged with sharing Jesus in every area of our lives. We all have circles of influence and relationship. We are meant to be catalysts in those circles to bring others to Christ. We are always looking for more ways to engage our community with Christ. If you have ideas or connections, please reach out!
YEARLY BUDGET
We contribute ten percent (10%) of all undesignated giving to the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention. On top of that, we also designate money to be spent by teams in going on trips and mobilizing others on mission.
WORLD MISSION OFFERING
In addition to dedicating a budgetary percentage, we collect an annual World Mission Offering which supports Local, State and International Missions. Typically our goal is to send $20,000 additional to SBC mission causes.
